Primary Goal
To construct a fully-operational, portable capnograph that has the ability to wirelessly and safely transmit capnometry data to a local electronic device (i.e. laptop), with proprietary software, to produce a capnogram. We aim to combine the best aspects of a capnometer and capnograph.
What is Capnography?
A capnograph is a device that measures the concentration of CO2 in exhaled air. It is used to monitor patient status for different types of illnesses. The device graphs partial pressure of CO2 vs. Time. This graph can be analyzed to determine types and severity of various diseases. Modern portable capnometers don't produce a graph. Capnographs currently only wired and have a bulky design.
Why are we designing a new one?
We're designing a new device that will allow for a wireless display of the capnograph and a digital display on the sensor. Current capnographs are not wireless and incorporate the use of bulky displays.
